    Careers

Here at Wath Comprehensive School we have a dedicated careers team providing careers advice, information, education and guidance for all students from Year 7 though to Year 13. Our Activity Plan for 2018 - 19 is available as a PDF download at the bottom of the page. You can find additional information about our provision in our careers policy, which is available to download in the policies section of our website.

Enquiries relating to careers provision should be directed to Mrs Laite, our Careers Leader. You can contact Mrs Laite by e-mail directed to careers@wcs.rotherham.sch.uk or telephone (01709) 760222 Ext 161.

    Meet the Team

Mr Shaw, Associate Senior Leader, oversees our careers team.

Mrs Laite is our Careers Leader and a Level 6 qualified Careers Adviser. Her role includes one-to-one careers interviews, creating and delivering careers lessons, activities such as work shadowing days, mock interview days, career fairs and employer engagement.

Mrs Ackerley is our Work Related Manager who supports students accessing alternate provision.

Mrs Parker is the Work Experience Administrator, who supports Year 12 and 13 with securing relevant opportunities.

We also support the Higher Education Progression Partnership South Yorkshire (HeppSY+) project and are working in partnership with Sheffield Hallam University and the University of Sheffield to support and increase the number of students accessing Higher Education. Mr Ghasemi works as our Higher Education Engagement Assistant for HeppSY+. His main objective is to assist in the organisation, coordination and delivery of relevant activities to students. You can find out more in the Higher Education Section.

Mrs Laite and Mr Ghasemi are based in the school library and are more than happy to be contacted in school if any further information is required and to help where possible.

CYH (part of the National Careers Service Yorkshire & Humber) have created a guide which covers a range of established and new job sectors and useful links and information about how to develop your skills, find a career that suits you and 'Shape Your Future'. You can download that guide here.

There's a wealth of careers information available online. We've picked some of the good bits and organised it into the categories below.

    Alumni

We are currently working with a company called Future First to build our Alumni community in order to  and engage with ex-students and to raise aspirations of current students. We hope that former students will help us and support activities in school such as talks, work place visits, work experience and careers fairs. You can click the link below to sign-up.
