    Forced Marriage

Forced Marriage is where one or both people do not consent to the marriage. The pressure put on you to marry against your will could be physical (including threats, actual physical violence and sexual violence) or emotional & psychological (you are made to feel as though you are bringing shame on your family). You may be too scared to say anything, believing that you have no other option.

It is a criminal offence to force someone to marry against their will.

If you have been spoken to, or believe you are going to be subject to a forced marriage you can speak to the safeguarding team, located near G17 / ICT Technicians Workroom, or talk to your PYL or AYL who will inform Safeguarding staff.

You can also call ChildLine on 0800 1111 or the police on their non-emergency number 101.
