Many congratulations to our Y13 students, who in 2018 achieved a 100% pass rate and our highest ever average attainment. 53% of all A-level grades were at A*-B level, higher than any other school in the Local Authority and 83% were at grades A*-C, well above the national average. The vocational results were even stronger, with 85% at Distinction Star-Distinction level, again the highest within the Local Authority.
In 2017, we were towards the top of the South Yorkshire A-level and Applied results and in the top 10% nationally for progress made. This was a fantastic achievement for the students concerned and an acknowledgement of the ability and hard work of our specialist team of A-level and BTEC teachers.
Our Sixth Form enjoys a reputation as a centre of academic excellence.
We take seriously our commitment to the personal, social and cultural development of our students. The Sixth Form is integrated into the life of the whole school community and Sixth Formers are expected to act as role models towards younger students. Our aim is to produce well-balanced, responsible young adults fully prepared to take their place in higher education and the professions.
The school is keen to produce academic all-rounders and therefore we offer a full programme of enrichment opportunities. There is something for every well motivated young adult.
We have an experienced team of Sixth Form tutors who meet with the students in their care on a daily basis ensuring that each young person has a key contact in school who knows them well so that each student receives the best advice, guidance and support throughout their post-16 journey. Throughout the year parents will receive reports which include assessment grades, motivational levels and teachers’ estimated grades for each of the subjects studied. In addition, our Y12 Tutor Mentoring programme ensures that every Y12 student is allocated a staff mentor with whom they meet once per half-term to discuss their progress and achievements in individual subjects and, to set targets for further development.

Higher Education & UCAS
Y12 students will be given the opportunity to examine a range of post-18 options as part of the ongoing PSHE programme. The vast majority of our students progress into higher education and we have a strong tradition of students gaining places at highly prestigious universities. Students are provided with detailed information, guidance and support throughout the UCAS application process.
The UCAS application process starts in earnest in the final half-term when students will take part in a variety of HE activities including presentations on the UCAS Apply system, writing personal statements, talks from former students about university life, visits to the UCAS Convention and a HE Information Evening for both students and parents/carers.
Each student will have a UCAS Reference Tutor who will support them at every stage of the process from making initial decisions about subjects and courses to giving guidance in writing personal statements and completing the UCAS application.
References for Higher Education are compiled by the Heads of Sixth and a team of Reference Tutors, based on comments from teachers and personal tutors. All references are read and signed by the Headteacher.
We hope that this information gives you an insight into the life and work of the Sixth Form at Wath Comprehensive School. The wide range of courses, activities and facilities that we offer, alongside a caring, supportive environment, promote successful learning and lifelong skills for our Sixth Formers so they can progress onto the next stage of their lives with confidence.
