Dance scholars have full use of the extensive dance faculties available at Wath Academy.
Facilities include:
• A dedicated dance studio
• Other performance and practice areas
• Stage with professional lighting and sound
• Recording equipment to film and review practice sessions
• Specialist staff, qualified in a range of different dance styles.

After the Wath Academy Sixth Form Dance Scholarship, future career opportunities include:
• Performing on cruise ships
• Travelling the world on tour as a cast member for musicals
• Performing in the West End
• Choreographer
• Dance teacher
• Higher education and university
Events
Dance scholars take part in many events, the highlight of which is the school’s annual Movement Evening. Other events include segments in school drama productions and awards evenings.
Past students have also taken part in external events like Move It in London and have been successful in both regional and national dance competitions.
Success Stories
Amelia Casswell
Wath Academy alumni student, Amelia, graduated from Leeds Becket University with a BA in Dance Performance. Alongside her academic studies, Amelia has continued to train at her independent Dance School, where she has now gained DDE teacher status in ISTD Modern and Tap. Amelia aspires to be a Professional Dance and Aerial specialist for a top international cruise line. During her time at Wath, Amelia was a committed student both within Dance and the wider school community. She was always heavily involved in our extracurricular programmes taking the lead in the development several performance and competition pieces. We are lucky to say that Amelia will be back in working with the Dance Department over the next academic year, sharing her professional experiences and delivering workshops to our scholarship students.
