An apprenticeship is a way of learning a trade or profession which combines on-the-job training and the opportunity to gain qualifications whilst getting paid – you earn while you learn!  An apprenticeship lasts for a minimum of 12 months and can take 1-5 years to complete depending on the level. The current minimum wage rate for an apprentice is £4.15 per hour.  This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.

Apprenticeships are becoming increasingly popular as a way of transitioning between education and work.  You can find out more at If we become aware of local  apprenticeships vacancies,  we will post them on our Twitter account @Wath_Careers.
